Spiritual freedom is not only an issue of the many sins we have committed but a release from an inner accusatory voice that is not the Spirit of Christ. This inner voice is called the “conscience,” and it is an issue that has to be addressed by the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.” For the spiritual man, his inner conscience must be trained to hear the voice of the Spirit of Christ.

God is for you, even if nothing goes right in your life. It is not an indication that you are back under the condemnation of God when life falls apart, and you experience suffering. All believers in Christ Jesus will have difficulties in life. However, we must be sure to understand that problems do not reinterpret the character of God nor alter our standing in Him. In Christ, we can experience tribulation, but never condemnation.

At the heart of the Gospel is not just the forgiveness we receive because of Christ, but the filling we receive because of His indwelling. To experience friendship with God, as it was said of Abraham in 2 Chronicles 20:7 and James 2:23, requires a walk with God rooted in faith, not explanation. If you cannot handle "mystery," a faith-filled walk with God will be nearly impossible. Friendship is not cultivated in explanation but experiences born out of trust.

According to Paul the Apostle, a believer in Christ should have a lifestyle altogether different from “outsiders,” or gentiles. Paul’s description of gentiles is that they are useless in their minds, void of understanding, foreigners to God’s life, ignorant, hard in heart, without feeling, loos-living, unclean, and greedy. A spiritual man does not exhibit this kind of lifestyle. If Paul were to meet you, would he consider you a believer or gentile based on your lifestyle?
